Harvest Weekend--The Butcher, The Baker, The Winemaker

The Lehigh Valley Wine Trail is proud to be a part of PA Preferred, a major statewide campaign designed to showcase and promote the excellent quality of PA products. As a result, we are each partnering with other PA products and inviting the public to join us for a weekend of entertainment and education as we kickoff the 2009 harvest season.

Here are some of the events happening at our Wine Trail wineries:

Amore will partner with Amore Farms,  featuring an array of cheeses, home grown fruits and vegetables.

Big Creek will be pairing our wines with produce from our friends at Heckman Orchards.

Blue Mountain will be pairing a Harvest Sausage Soup made with local ingredients with our 2005 Chambourcin/Shiraz blend. On Saturday, come out and participate or cheer on the contestants in a Bobbing for Grapes Competition. They will be held at 12 and 3. On Sunday, join us for our Sunday blues featuring Rob & Marty. Bring a picnic and spend the afternoon. Admission is $5.

Clover Hill Winery is celebrating Harvest Weekend in style.  We are partnering with Breakaway Farms who will be sampling and selling a collection of organic meats and cheeses.  We will also have music on the patio from 1:30-5pm Saturday and Sunday.  In addition, Clover Hill is celebrating 24 years of business.  Celebrate 24 years of Clover Hill business by receiving 24% discount on your wine purchases (some restrictions apply) from September 10-13, 2009.

Galen Glen Vineyard & Winery is offering a grown up twist on peanut butter and jelly. Our Winter Mountain Red ( "jelly") with PA Preferred Gertrude Hawk Chocolates decadent Peanut Butter Cups. This isn't the sandwich you ate when you were a kid. Additionally, we will be tasting and selling by the glass Galen Glen Wine-A-Ritas, a frozen wine beverage.

Pinnacle Ridge will be hosting "Blues in the Barn."This two day event features local blues bands performing live on Saturday, September 12th. Sunday, September 13th, is our wildly popular, "Blues Jam."Folks are invited to bring their instruments and their voices and perform the blues on stage in our barn. Tim's Smoked Products will do his pig roast onsite, selling pulled pork and savory side dishes. Tim's pork comes from the Schick Farm (less than five miles away.) Now that's local!

Vynecrest will be partnering with our fellow Macungie Farm Market PA Preferred commodities, StoneCroft Farm (goat cheese) and Hereford Country Store (artisan bread). There will be bread, cheese and wine available all weekend for sampling and for sale, and a spokesperson from StoneCroft Farm will be at the winery 1-3 on Saturday, and the baker from Herefored Country Store from 1-3 on Sunday. Live music in the Vyneskeller both days 1-4:30 and a Winemaker Tour at 1pm on Saturday.
